National President Fred Rolando was at both the KIM training and now the health benefits training. Fred has given us a wealth of information.

The back pay for career employees will be in the December 1 2017 paycheck. It will not be a separate check. CCAs will get theirs on February 9, 2018.  The Post Office says it is harder to process the back pay for CCAs and that is why it will be February 9, 2017.

CCAs that had the 30 months prior to contract being ratified, were converted on September 30, 2017 to unassigned regular or Part Time Flexible based on the size of office they are in. We did not have CCAs that were converted for our branch. CCAs in Grand Rapids get converted long before 30 months. In our AO’s or smaller offices, they are all smaller then the required size of office so do lot get converted.

In May of 2018, former Transnational Employees (TE) will get to move up in the pay scale. This will be based on the length of time they were a TE. 

NALC headquarters is working to get CCAs converted in those offices less then 100 man years. This will be our AOs.

Time Card Fraud is becoming a much bigger issue lately. Supervisors are changing carriers clock rings without their knowledge. Please pay attention to your clock rings and make sure that you are getting proper credit for the work you are doing.

We have already filed grievances on a few supervisors in Grand Rapids for changing carrier clock rings.

Please remember that the branch has elections this year. Nominations will be at the November general meeting and results at the December general meeting.

The Nalc has converted over 46000 CCAs to career employees nationwide so far. 

This is a great number but we can do more. 

We will work hard to convert more. 

The NALC has about 280000 active and retired members. 

Of those 1/3 are retirees. That leaves about 180000 active members. Of these, just under half are current or former CCAs. The CCAs are a large part of the union. The CCAs are our future. Let's get the New career and CCAs involved in the union.

We held our general meeting for December last night. The results of the Branch elections were announced....
